Enteral Nutrition

The field of nutrition has been rapidly evolving over the past so many decades. The aim is to meet the patient’s additional requirements of nutrients required during a clinical illness. Enteral nutrition (EN) refers to the process of feeding the patient through the gastrointestinal tract to deliver the required calories and nutrients. It may include feeding orally or, including oral nutritional supplements (ONS) or, delivering nutrients via tube feeding. EN is always the preferred route of feeding whenever possible because it is simple, convenient, has better patient compliance, and helps to maintain gut integrity
