Complications of Pneumonia in Children
  • Breathing difficulty: Our paediatric experts will provide your expert diagnosis, a personalised care plan. and comprehensive education, so that you child can breathe more easily whether at home, at school or daycare, and enjoy her/his favourite activities.
  • Fluid accumulation around the lungs (pleural effusion): Pneumonia can cause fluid to accumulate in the space between the tissue lining of the lungs and chest cavity (pleura). It needs to be drained through surgery or a chest tube.
  • Bacteria in the bloodstream (Bacteremia): Bacteria from the lungs can enter the bloodstream and spread the infection to other organs.
  • Lung abscess: When pus forms in a cavity of the lungs, it is known as a lung abscess and requires antibiotics and sometimes, drainage.
4. Chronic & recurrent Respiratory Problems

Commons symptoms include noisy breathing, cough, wheezing, breathlessness, fever and failure to gain weight.

These children often develop recurrent pneumonia 4. Sleep Disorders in Children

Sleep disorders in children may lead to moodiness, irritability, lack of focus in class, sleepiness in school, inability to get up in time for school, and significant behavioural and learning problems. Some sleep disorders are serious enough to cause adverse cardiovascular and metabolic effects as well as failure to thrive. In some cases it may necessary to observe your child's sleep in the sleep laboratory. Here, children are able to sleep without much difficulty in a comfortable bedroom-like settin, and with a parent nearby. Sleep disorders can lead not only to tired and cranky children, but to all kinds of behavioural problems at home, in school, and in the social lives as well.

5. Airway Disorders in Children

peadiatric airway disorders occur when a child's airway is obstructed or damaged due to illness, disease or congenital (present at birth) defect. Airway disorders occur when a child's airway is obstructed or damaged.

The airway is made up of four structures
  • Pharynx (back of the mouth and nose)
  • Larynx (voice box)
  • Trachea (windpipe)
  • Bronchi (lung passages)

Several diseases, illness or congenital defects can affect any part of the airway, hindering a child's ability to breath. Some of the most common types are outlined below.
