Pituitary Tumours Of The Brain – Transsphenoidal approach
Depending upon the size and extent of the tumour the patient could have different conditions like Gigantism, Cushing's disease or Prolactin syndrome.
At Jehangir Tumor removal is usually accomplished through a key hole technique called Transsphenoidal Approach. In this a small half inch hole is made in the back wall of the nose using a 4mm telescope, small surgical instruments and a high resolution imaging system. The approach is through the nostril, avoiding opening of a part of the skull (craniotomy) in most cases. If the tumour is large it is cut into smaller pieces and removed through the created tunnel.
