| The department is adequately backed up by a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Extensively equipped Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. Children’s Special Ward, Private and Luxury Rooms, Operation theatre with world-class modern facilities. All the necessary equipment for Endoscopic work is also available, including Bronchoscopes, Cystoscopes, Genitoscopes, Oesophago-Gastroscope , Laparoscope, Thoracoscope, Colonoscope etc. |

| The neonatal unit caters to 2200 neonates delivered every year, most of whom are born to high risk pregnancies. A well equipped 10-bedded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, 4 bedded sick nursery area and 30 rooming beds provide the inpatient services. Four consultant pediatricians and neonatologist, 2 DM neonatologists, 10 post graduate residents doctors make up the team. All deliveries are conducted and attended by consultans or post graduate resident doctors. |
| The NICU has 16 nurses ensuring a nurse-patient ratio of 1.0 for critically sick babies and 0.3–0.5 for others. The Obstetric Perinatal Care services have facilities for antenatal diagnosis, fetal monitoring and
fetal intervention. There are follow up clinics for the newborn infants, one each for the high-risk neonates and normal neonates. The improvement in neonatal care is reflected in the improving survival of neonates in recent years.

| This arrangement allows all child patients with their distinctive needs to be catered easily and ensures that paediatric residents are always available at hand for emergencies. The floor is manned by nurses who are specially trained to look after children. |
| Some of the procedures done in the unit are ventilation, peritoneal dialysis, insertion of ICD s, etc. The floor and PICU is equipped to deal with all types of complex and critically ill patients and is manned by qualified post-graduate resident doctors round the clock. The floor also houses surgical cases belonging to the paediatric age group. |

| Some examples of cases admitted to the section are : |
| Congenital defects including heart diseases, septic shock, pyrexias of unknown origin, neonatal problems such as prematurity and jaundice, head injuries, metabolic diseases etc. |
| The outpatient department includes daily clinics in general paediatrics (including immunization) and in addition speciality clinics such as neurology, allergy, child development clinic (CDC), infectious diseases and hematology clinics. |
| The CDC is a multi-disciplinary clinic with a paediatric psychiatrist, neuro -developmental therapist, speech therapist, psychologist and physiotherapist. Developmental disorders, behavioural problems and cerebral palsy are some of the conditions seen here. There is also a special service for Autism offering an integrated approach. |
