   Laparoscopic Bariatric (Obesity) Surgery

Before After
Muzaffar Khan weighing 265 kg underwent Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy and lost a phenomenal 100 kg in 1 year
Recognizing the effectiveness of Weight Loss Surgery (Bariatric Surgery) in morbidly obese persons (11/2 times desired weight), Jehangir Hospital introduced this speciality in India in 1999.
We have been performing Bariatric procedures since the year 2000. More than 20 patients weighed in excess of 200 kg. Recently a number of patients from different parts of the world have come to Jehangir Hospital for undergoing this surgery. In April 2010 a 265 kg patient underwent Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, possibly the heaviest person then to undergo Bariatric surgery in India.
This option is the only permanent solution for morbid obesity, especially effective in persons suffering weight induced ailments like Hypertension, Diabetes, Asthma etc, which may disappear after the weight loss.
