Prepare Your Self

As you mentally and physically prepare to undergo orthopedic surgery, there are some ways to help you in your preparation. Some of these are generally common sense reminders for most surgeries.

Make sure you arrive at the hospital earlier than your scheduled surgery time. This may not seem all that important, but you must keep in mind that time booked in hospital operating rooms is optimized so there is minimal time left unused. Plus, it is quite costly to use a hospital operating room; thus, you do not want to be late, and risk the procedure being rescheduled or you being the cause of wasted time and/or resources. It is quite probable that this may mean you have some time to spare before the surgery that you can spend reading a book, magazine or newspaper, solving a crossword or puzzle or any other way you wish.

It will certainly depend on the type of surgery you will have along with the kind of anesthesia that will be used on you, but do not eat or drink anything as advised. In case you take some daily medications, discuss these with your doctor to find out if you should still take them with a sip of water or you should skip them because of the surgery. Sometimes even with the best of intentions, you might accidentally eat or drink something when you shouldn’t. Definitely, tell the doctors and nurses as it may change the anesthesia used or the surgery may even need to be rescheduled.

You must also inform the doctor of your regular medication. It is recommended that you carry all your current medication using their original containers with you on the day of your surgery.

While you are packing, make sure that you pack lightly. If you require anything else, someone can bring it for you later. Also, don’t take any valuables with you meaning leave your jewelry, cell phones, laptops and most of your cash, with the exception of a small amount to bring with you, at home. When in doubt, leave it at home.

It can be extremely helpful to talk to someone else who has experienced the same surgery and recovery. Although others may think they know and readily give you advice, only someone that knows can really share with you their experiences and give valuable advice.

Now that you know some of the ways to prepare for orthopedic surgery in pune, it is time to choose an orthopedic hospital in Pune. Your mind should automatically think of Jehangir Hospital as it is one of the best orthopedic hospitals in Pune.
